“Lookout Lorikeet!” 45x45cm Glossed Interactive Acrylic on stretched canvas.
The scene is the Kimberley region of Western Australia after good rains with the Boab & Kapok trees in flower.
There is an Olive python (Liasis olivaceus) in the Boab tree (Adansoinia gregorii) and Red-collard Lorikeet (Trichoglossus rubritorquis) is on the menu.
But there’s a happy ending:
Olive, the python, was so heavy that she fell to the ground when the branch broke. She slithered back into the hole at the base of the tree and the bird flew away to catch up to his mate.
