Albert 'Sonny' Joseph
Albert Samuel Joseph born 4th July 1940 at Murray Bridge, only child of Nel & Bert Joseph, spent early childhood at Salt Creek Coorong, South Australia. Left school at 13 to go trapping rabbits, was a shearer, fisherman, truck driver & shopkeeper. Married to Julie Joseph, 6 Children, 6 grandchildren. Started painting at age 64, quite surprised when people started buying my art works, had solo expedition at Fine Art Gallery, Kingscote, Kangaroo Island in 2008. Sold 12 of 17 paintings. Sold 8 to Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island, and many more to various people around Australia. Paint with Acrylic mainly from imagination, surprised that faces and figures appear in some of my paintings. This has a feeling of unreality and I don't know how it happens, but have learnt to accept it and am very grateful that I can paint at all even if in a naive or primitive fashion.
